Businesses produce scrap in larger, regular lots: off-cuts and rejected parts from production, old IT equipment from offices, steel and cable from construction. With bigger lots, how you sell makes a bigger difference.
Prepare the lot
- Separate materials, and keep high-value metals (copper, brass, aluminium) apart from iron.
- Estimate the weight, or weigh it on a weighbridge for large lots.
- Photograph the lot clearly, with something for scale.
- Decide who will be on site for loading and weighing, and the times buyers can come.
Offers or an auction?
Offers suit regular, smaller lots: publish it, compare the offers you receive and agree a price in the chat.
An auction suits a large or one-off lot: set a starting price and an end time, and buyers bid against each other in the open. The highest bid when the timer ends wins.
