Old UPS and car batteries (purani battery) are bought for the lead inside. They are worth selling, but they contain acid and heavy metal, so handle them with care.
Types of battery buyers look for
- Lead-acid: car batteries, UPS batteries, tubular batteries. Usually priced by weight or per battery.
- Lithium: phone, laptop, solar and e-bike batteries. Handled separately: they can catch fire if damaged.
- Dry cells: small household batteries. Low value; collect them for recycling.
Before you sell
- Keep batteries upright so acid does not leak.
- Do not open, crush or drain them.
- Tape the terminals of lithium batteries and keep them away from heat.
- Store them away from children, outside the living area if possible.
