Community guidelines

Last updated 16 October 2026

Scrap Exchange brings together households, businesses, kabarias, dealers and recyclers. These guidelines describe how we expect everyone to behave. They sit alongside our terms of use and acceptable use policy.

Be honest

  • Describe your scrap as it is: the material, condition and an honest weight estimate.
  • Use your own photos of the actual scrap.
  • Make offers you intend to keep. If you can't, say so in the chat.

Be respectful

  • Treat every member with respect, whatever their trade, language or background. Informal collectors and kabarias are part of this community.
  • No abuse, threats, harassment, or discriminatory language.
  • Keep chats about the deal. No spam or unrelated advertising.

Weigh fairly and pay promptly

  • Weigh on a proper scale, in front of the other person, and record it honestly.
  • Pay the agreed amount at the pickup, by the method you agreed.
  • Sellers: confirm the deal only once you have been paid. Buyers: don't pressure a seller to confirm early.

Keep it safe

  • Keep conversations in the app until the pickup.
  • Arrive at the agreed time and share your location on the way if you are collecting.
  • Follow our safety tips, and handle batteries, gas and sharp scrap with care.

Ratings and reviews

Rate the person, not the price. Reviews must be honest and about the deal. Offering money or favours for reviews, or leaving fake reviews, is not allowed.

What happens if guidelines are broken

Anyone can report a user or listing from its page. Reports are reviewed by our team, who may remove content, warn, or suspend an account. When an account is suspended, its open offers, auctions and pickups are closed and the other members are told. Serious cases, such as threats, fraud or stolen goods, may be reported to the authorities.
